Photo of a single
MAPMT. It is about 1" square in size and contains 16 (4x4)
cells, each yielding independent analog signal outputs.
Front view of the
16-socket HV baseboard. The custom sockets were machined to have a
"tee" slot in the center to accommodate the vacuum seal post
which extrudes outward from the back of the MAPMT.
Back view of the
MAPMT baseboard. The large number of surface mount components is evident.
Each 34-pin connector serves 2 MAPMTs (16 pins each + 2 ground pins). This
board mates to the MAPMT hybrid using a 0.025" centerline flat cable
(not shown). The HV connection post is shown at top-center. Four
0.25" holes are also included to facilitate mounting.
Side view with two
MAPMTs attached. Note the 1 mm gap was set to accommodate a mu-metal
shield that was to be used to reduce the stray fringe field coming from
the BTeV dipole.
