A Short Bio

I was born in St. Cloud, Minnesota (1977) and grew up in the suburbs of Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota.

I graduated from White Bear Lake Area High School in 1995.

After high school I attended the University of Minnesota Duluth for four years. I began college as a biology major, changed to biochemistry, and finally ended as a biochemistry and philosophy double major. I graduated from UMD in 1999.

I spent the next year in Tempe, Arizona attending Arizona State University part-time and working part-time.

In Spring 2000 I was admitted into the PhD program in philosophy at Syracuse University. I studied and taught philosophy at SU from Fall 2000 to Fall 2002.

In Fall 2002 I decided that professional philosophy wasn't for me, and for various reasons (read more) I decided to pursue a career in physics instead. I spent the next year and a half taking undergraduate physics courses at Syracuse University.

In Fall 2004 I began working towards my PhD in physics at Syracuse University.  My area of concentration is in particle-cosmology (read more).  I hope to finish my PhD in Spring 2009.

In July 2007 I married my long-time girlfriend, Nita.
