Wireless Access in Physics

Wireless access is now active for most of 2nd & 3rd floors, as well as B129E.

Primary uses designed for 202/204 conference rooms, and many research offices & labs/font>

It "should" be as simple as: You should see an icon in the lower right taskbar for connection strength and speed information

Insecure, use VPN: Wireless is insecure... any sensitive traffic should be left to a dedicated hardwired line. Wireless network is also firewalled, so you may not be able to connect to some network shares, drives, printers.
We recommend use of Syracuse University's VPN client, which will encrypt your session.

Samba: To connect to Physics Samba shares (drives & printers) use the full path of physics.syr.edu (ex: \\physics.syr.edu\printer )

Connection w/o VPN client: If your browser homepage is a location that does not end in "syr.edu" you will not get the Air Orange authentication window when you launch it. Your browser will keep trying to find your homepage, but get no where. To get your browser to connect to the AirOrange authentication window, type in the following URL: http://cms.syr.edu/ . Doing so will launch the authentication window and you can proceed just as you do now.
