Mac OS X VPN Client configuration instructions

Mac OS 10.4.3 and greater is required to use the Syracuse University VPN

Configure L2TP VPN connection

1. Launch Internet Connect Application and select VPN or File, New VPN Connection

 
2. Select VPN type L2TP over IPSec, click Continue

 
3. Click drop down arrow in Configuration field, select Edit Configurations

 

4. Enter following data in new configuration window -

• Description: Syracuse University VPN
• Server Address: vpn.syr.edu
• Account Name: User's NetID

5. User Authentication: select Password: - Enter your NetID password

 
6. Machine Authentication: select Shared Secret radio button and enter the following - ThisIsPSK then click OK (shared secret is case sensitive)

 
7.Setup is complete. Click Connect to create a connection to VPN server
