I was born in TRIESTE (Italy), a beautiful city on the Adriatic sea. This city went through a lot in the last century, and its history makes of it a unique place where to live!!!
The city has many great places where to taste an excellent coffee and one of the world’s most famous coffee is produced in Trieste: Illy Caffe’.
Every year in October the city hosts a famous sailing race, la Barcolana; more than a thousand boats of every size participate into it, creating a unique scenery.
Among the many places to visit, I’ll mention the Miramare Castle right by the sea, Grotta Gigante the biggest tourist cave in the world; up-to-date informations about more places to visit and current events in Trieste can be found here.
In the recent years there started a renovation of the old downtown, which is transforming in a very nice and fancy place where to live or simply have a walk, in addition to the central downtown (where you can find interesting stores and coffee places).
The city is surrounded by the Carso and is very close to the border line with Slovenia.
Trieste is also home to the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), the International School of Advanced Studies (SISSA) and the Area Science Park (Area); institutions which make of Trieste a strong scientific pole.
Different reasons relate me to two other beautiful places:
Guanajuato (Mexico) an amazing city in the very middle of Mexico
Selve (Silba, Croatia) an island in Croatia where my paternal grandfather was born
