Demonstration of light, color and polarization

A description of a demo challenge for PHY105, Science for the 21st Century is available as a MS Word document and as a (harder to read, since converted) html document.

Java Applets for Physics Education

I am currently collaborating with Simon Catterall, Ed Lipson, Eric Schiff and Gian Vidali, all here at Syracuse, on the development of interactive simulations for teaching physics. These simulations are to be bundled with course content for use as demonstrations in class and as instructional modules. Also see examples of modules developed here at Syracuse without Java applets.

  • Gravity Simulation
A simulation of Newtonian mechanics with gravity. Developed by A. Middleton.
  • Vector Cross-Product
An interactive tutorial on the properties of the vector cross-product. Developed by David McNamara, Eric Schiff, and Alan Middleton. Included in the Gamelan listing.
