Maps & Directions to the Conference:

Second (and Final?) Circular

(The new information begins with paragraph 3.)

On Saturday March 28 and Sunday March 29, 1998, the Nickel and Dime Gravity Meeting will be held at Syracuse University. The conference will be in the tradition of the Pacific Coast Gravity Meetings and the Midwest Relativity Meetings. It is also the sequel to the New Voices in Relativity meeting that was held at Penn. State in November 1996. Participants are welcome from all fields of gravitational physics research (classical, quantum [including string theory] theory, experiment, interferometer, bar-detector) and students are encouraged to participate.

It is our goal to make this an extremely civilized conference. The current plan is for there to be no official registration and no fee for the conference. We would, however, appreciate an email saying that you will be coming so that we can plan for the event. Also, the conference will begin no earlier than 11:00AM on Saturday to allow participants to arrive in Syracuse Saturday morning. There will be no invited speakers and all talks will be allotted the same amount of time. Talks will be accepted until the available time is filled.

Administrative timescales: If you would like to give a talk, please send a title and *short* abstract of a few sentences by March 15. Abstracts should be sent by electronic mail to Steve Penn. Abstracts submitted after March 15 will be considered on a case by case basis.

Accommodations: A block of rooms has been reserved for conference guests at the Genesee Inn for $52/night for a room with a single Queen-sized bed and for $62/night for a room with two double beds. This rate is at a discount for the conference and, to obtain this rate, participants should mention that they are coming for the `Nickel and Dime Gravity Meeting' and reservations should be made before March 15. Participants should contact the Genesee Inn directly at (315) 476-4212 to make reservations.

The Genesee Inn is the usual SU compromise between price and convenience. It is a 5-10 minute walk from the campus. Other places to stay are the Sheraton University Hotel and Conference Center which is adjacent to campus (reservations may be made through their national toll free number: 1-800-395-2105) and the Motel 6 (call 315-433-1300) which is approximately a 15 minute drive from campus.

A fairly complete list of local hotels (with maps, contact info, etc.) is maintained by the Syracuse Chamber of Commerce.

Parking: Parking on the SU campus should not cost more than $3.00 per day.

See you in Syracuse!

PS. Please note that, while anyone is welcome, this is an informal `local' conference in the sense that there will be no travel support of any kind provided, and no proceedings of the conference will be prepared.
