Abstract
The possibility that the world has more than 4 spacetime
dimensions
has long fascinated physicists. In this talk I will review
recent
theoretical advances in understanding theories in extra
dimensions and their applications to physics both within and
beyond the Standard Model. I will show that extra dimensions
present a
viable extension of the Standard Model capable of solving the
gauge
hierarchy problem. I will also show that extra dimensions
provide a
powerfull tool for studying 4-dimensional physics, and in
particular
may lead to non-perturbative definition of chiral gauge
theories.
