Title : The NonLinear Cepheid PL relation: Implications for H0 and Cepheid Physics
Abstract:
| We present evidence strongly suggesting that the Cepheid PL relation in the LMC is nonlinear at a period of 10 days: a significant departure from the existing paradigm. We analyze the possible effect on H0 and the need for a more accuarte distance scale independent of the CMB. We also present a possible physical mechanism causing such a nonlinearity in terms of the interaction of the stellar photosphere and hydrogen ionization front and close with a discussion of the effects of this interaction in RR Lyrae stars. |
