Title : Observing Dark Matter and Its Heavy Partners at the CERN Large Hadron Colllider

Abstract:

Supersymmetry and other models of new physics explain cosmic dark
matter as a weakly interacting massive particle with a mass of a few hundred
GeV. Such theories present a great opportunity for particle physicists. In
2007, the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) will begin operation and will
give us a chance to discover and study this particle.  But how can we use
a high energy particle  accelerator to observe an  invisible
particle? In  this lecture,  I  will discuss the search for new particles at
the LHC, the challenges of observing invisible particle even when they
are produced in complex and characteristic events, and  the
possibilities for nevertheless obtaining  precise information about their
nature.
