This is the web site for the course
Modern instrumentation.
This course is an introduction to the signal processing and data
analysis techniques presently used in several different physics research
and modern medicine research laboratories. It will give you some
background on
data acquisition
systems, analog electronics, sensors and transducers commonly used in electronics research laboratories. You will be able to
design GUIs and data acquisition algorithm building your virtual
instrument with Labview software. The course is hands-on and your
observations are the starting point of your learning process.
You will also most likely enjoy the occasional frustration that are unavoidable companions of
research in experimental physics. During the last month of the semester you will work on a research project that you will present at a class symposium that will be organized at the end of the semester.
