Read the first chapter of James Gleick's book Chaos - making a new science. Then answer the following questions (a paragraph will be sufficient for each):
  1. What is the Butterfly Effect ? What implications does it have for weather prediction ?
  2. Describe Lorenz's simple model for heat convection in a fluid.
This homework is due in next Thursday in lab.
