Information on Electronic Clickers

You must get an electronic clicker PRS RF shown in photograph below. They are available from the SU bookstore. Don't forget to use mail-in rebate you get with a purchase of the new textbook to recover part of the cost. Used or borrowed clickers are fine. You will earn bonus credit by using clickers to participate in PHY211 lectures.

Joining the class

When you turn your cliker on wait until it finds PHY211S08 class, then press green enter-key. If the instructor's receiver is off the cliker will not find the class (wait until the receiver is switched on).

Identifying yourself

First time you use the clicker you must enter your SUID:

1.: Press *-key to bring "Setup menu" on your screen
2.: Press down-arrow key until 2nd line on the screen displays "->ID:"
3.: Press green enter-key
4.: Enter your SUID (first 9 digits) using black numeric keys (to erase any numbers entered by mistake use white left-arrow key). Double check the SUID number you entered. You will not get any credit for using the clicker if the SUID is wrong.
5.: Press green enter-key

You don't need to enter your SUID next time you power your clicker on unless you change the batteries.

Entering your response

Press key corresponding to your response (usually A, B, C or D). You can do it even if the clicker is in sleep mode - this will wake it up. Then press green enter-key. You should see "Received" message on your screen confirming that your entry was recorded. If the question is not active you will get "Wait for Q" message.

You can change your answer before the question times out.

Participation credit is not based on whether your answers were right or wrong. However, no credit will be given for entering "invalid" answers i.e. sending responses which are not among listed with the question.
